Martin Enckell

Martin is BBC’s expert advisor for TV productions in the remote parts of the polar regions - and that for good reason. Martin has worked every season in the Artic and Antarctica since 1999. As an Expedition Leader, divemaster, Zodiac driver, and private guide, he spends most of his time out in the field. In the Arctic, Martin has explored Svalbard, Greenland’s West and East coasts, the Canadian Arctic, Franz Josef Land, Novaya Zemlya, the White Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk in the Russian Arctic.

Pippa Low

Pippa comes from the highlands of Scotland. Spending most of her time in the polar regions on expedition. A full-time expedition leader and guide, primarily working in the Polar regions. On paper, Pippa is a Marine scientist, specialising in marine mammals. Most recently she has just finished a masters focusing on humpback whale physiology.

Pippa has been working in the expedition tourism industry with 10 years’ experience in Scotland, Australia and New Zealand, 4 years in Antarctica and 3 years in the Arctic.

Her areas of expertise whilst guiding is wildlife, primarily marine mammals (whales, seals, dolphins, polar bears), however Pippa has a great passion and knowledge of the range of wildlife found in the polar regions. She has a great drive to communicate and inform our guests about the incredible locations, wildlife, and the most recent science behind them too!

Pippa says the wild unpredictability of nature means something truly magical can be around every corner. Often, it can be something as simple as the incredible beauty of the landscape that takes your breath away, but when everything lines up, the unforgettable experiences could be anything from witnessing Polar bear hunts, to staring eye to eye with a 16m humpback whale!

When Pippa isn’t at sea, she’s living and exploring from her home on wheels, a VW campervan.
